I only updated the TOC, as far as I know the old version still works properly.
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

R4ND0M1337 saidDoes KillsToLevel depend on TitanPanel to run? Because I personally hate TitanPanel because we don't need it at all, since the WoW default panel is perfectly fine the way it is... -.- If KillsToLevel does NEED TitanPanel to run, then can you please change it so that KillsToLevel works on almost any type of experience bar?
P.S. I posted this several other places, but what is the name of the program used to create AddOns from scratch?

jdd15 saidwhy doesn't this mod have the rep tracking functionality anymore? Ktl used to allow you to monitor rep to level as well, which was great because it told you how many more kills you needed to reach the next level of rep with a faction (exalted, revered, etc) and it was also great for figuring out how many rep items you needed to collect/AH....where did this ability go? Can it be brought back? Please...

PheonixSong saidI get an error in the Add-Ons screen in game that says Titan Panel [KillstoLevel] - Dependency Missing. What does this mean and how can I fix it? Any help is appreciated.

smariot saidIt probably means you don't have Titan Panel, in which case, don't worry about it. Just disable it or delete the TitanKillsToLevel folder.

R4ND0M1337 saidYeah, certain AddOns require other AddOns to run. For example, say that "KillsToLevel" AddOn only showed it's info on the "TitanBar". Then if you didn't have "TitanBar", how could "KillsToLevel" work, since it would not know where to put it's info? Dependency missing means that the AddOn it's dependent of is either not enabled, or not downloaded, thus "KillsToLevel"s dependency (TitanBar) is missing. ;D

R4ND0M1337 saidI'm not quite sure, but this might be possible if you download an AddOn that can move action bars.

smariot saidIf I wanted to support an algorithm designed with the memory and speed restrictions of 15 year old hardware, slowing down the progression to bigger and better things, well, I'd use a zip file. But then, if I really wanted to conform to the majority, I'd also stop using Linux, start eating meat, and own a car and drive to Walmart so I can buy stuff I don't need produced by child labor half way across the world. Or I can just do what I think is best, ignore what you and everyone else thinks, and you can either agree or back away slowly from the crazy person.

yoda2031 saidHooray for you using Linux and all, but it's not a good impression to have Linux users using formats that aren't commonly supported by all platforms. Portability works both ways, my friend, and if you don't like things being portable you shouldn't be using Linux to begin with.
Moreover, you -should- be using a format that -is- supported by all distributions natively. I seem to remember 7z only just got introduced into mainstream distributions of Linux, so there are probably a fair few who don't yet support it.
Also, being a non-conformist isn't about not eating meat and driving around in a car and using Linux. It's about choosing things that you want to do REGARDLESS of what other people think, not BECAUSE they think the opposite. Just because public consensus is that it is unsafe to jump off tall buildings, doesn't mean you should go out and jump off a tall building. Do you see the logic? You're almost conforming by doing the opposite of what is expected...
Not having a go, just thought you might appreciate some food for thought. :)

Graumol saidYou can do whatever you want. Unfortunately, not everyone will easily install (or want to install) a program (most likely will end up being shareware), for something they will use once. You can use 7z at will, but when distributing to this kind of broader 'audience', you could be helpful and use zip. Don't be the one trying to change people's diets, just cause they're not your cup of tea.
