- Incompatability with Notes
- Incompatability with CT_RaidAssist
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Studdly1 saidThere seems to be a bug with some buttons. I always have to check hide map and uncheck hide map to get the map button to show up.

Bachlott saidThat is caused by another addon doing it's own hiding of the blizzard buttons. Usually these are addons that change the minimap.

Bachlott saidOkay so you want one set of settings for all of your characters rather than seperate settings per character. Okay I'll add that to my to do list.

naumatt saidLOVE this mod, but have recently been having trouble with it. For some reason, minimap button frame has started putting a HUGE space right in the middle of my buttons. If I have them all in one row, the space is more than 1500 pixels wide, pushing most of them off the screen.
Any fix for this?

Bachlott saidMBF is conflicting with another addon. Most likely one that does something with the minimap. It sure would be nice if there was a seperate layer that map mods could put all of their dots and stuff on as opposed to the Minimap or Minimap Cluster frames. But I'm going to make a change to restore some older code and hopefully that will fix the problem.

Claymore1314 saidI have exactly the same problem. Also, the sizing of the MBF frame has gone a bit awry. No amount of manipulation using /mbf config seems to fix this.
However, I would also like to add that I TOTALLY love this addon... GJ mate :D

kazren saidHey Bachlott, I love the changes made since release. It just gets better. I was wondering though if youll make it compatible with MobMap. It used to work fine with it, but I think in version 1.9 it tries to put the minimap dots generated from mobmap into the frame. It wasnt working before the patch that went into effect today, so thats not the problem, even though that patch messed with MBF pretty badly, but Im sure you know all about that. If MobMap is too much of a pain, its no big deal. Ill gladly sacrifice those dots on the minimap for MBF anyday. Anyway, keep it up, your doing a great job.

Bachlott saidYeah I can fix the MobMap issue easy it will be in 1.9a
I haven't had any new issues due to the new patch. The main reason for the new issues is I changed the way items were collected, but I think I'm going to have to change one little part of my cleanup back to the way it was before. It seems like it was better due to the fact it was a little more general in the way it chose to block certain items. Hopefully by splitting up the two functions I combined should fix a world of issues. But in any case the new version should be up soon.

NanoWarrior saidGreat addon! Awesomeness dude. Only problems I have are that it shrinks the timer on the Minimap and the Addon makes the mailbox word delete disappear. Other then that this is perfect.

NanoWarrior saidErrr not a timer. It shows if it is night or day and the server time. You know the lil Sun and Moon thing on the minimap? Sometimes (very rarly mostly happens when messing with the option to make it disappear) it will shrink to the size of an addon button.
Mailbox Delete button word just disappers. You see the button but no "Delete" on there (text is gone). I turned off all my addons and just put this one on and it was the problem. If you don't know what the Delete button is look at your mail for the it. It should be the Middle button or Second button from the left. If you want a picture of this I can show ya.

Bachlott saidOkay some more info about the Delete button text disappearing. Apparently it does this even with all the addons turned off. So I'm guessing that this is a blizzard issue and not something to do with MBF.
